Moonstone Refit

Redesigning, refitting, and relaunching a superyacht is no small feat—especially when it includes a 7.5-meter hull extension.

In 2022, the yacht owners entrusted Damen Yachting with the ambitious transformation of the 72-meter Delta Marine-built ALBATROSS. Their vision was to create a central wellness hub featuring a sauna, Hammam, gym, massage suite, and pool, complemented by a sleek, modern interior.

Guided by the trusted partnership between the owners, Damen Yachting, and designers Harrison Eidsgaard, this two-and-a-half year project seamlessly combined new-build expertise with meticulous refit execution. From re-engineering the yacht's structure and upgrading its technical systems to redesigning 80% of the interior with contemporary materials and bespoke craftsmanship, every detail was carefully considered.

The result is MOONSTONE: elegant, modern, and alive with light—a remarkable evolution in design, engineering, and spirit, ready to cruise the world for decades to come.

The Making of the Book, Moonstone-Our Floating Gallery.

Moonstone – Our Floating Gallery was born during the process of photographing the yacht's interior and exterior. As I moved through each space with lens in hand, it became clear that Moonstone was far more than a vessel. Her interiors, artwork, sculptures, glasswork, coolers, textures, and richly veined marbles felt intentionally curated—every element thoughtfully composed, every room functioning as a standalone art exhibit while contributing to a greater artistic whole. In that moment, the idea emerged: Moonstone was a floating gallery, and she deserved to be documented as one.

What followed was the proposal for a coffee table book—one that would celebrate not only the yacht itself, but also the vision, craftsmanship, and dedication behind her transformation. This book is a tribute to that collective effort. It reflects the unwavering commitment of the owners, whose commitment to detail and aesthetic set the foundation, to Cheryl, whose thoughtful writing helped give the visuals their voice, every contribution played a vital role.

The journey from concept to completion was both demanding and deeply rewarding. Countless hours were devoted to colour proofing, refining layouts, reviewing revisions, and reshooting imagery to ensure every page remained true to Moonstone's essence. The collaboration with Conolly Printing, and the care taken throughout the printing process, elevated the work even further—transforming photographs into a tactile experience worthy of their subject.

This book stands as a reflection of that shared commitment: a visual archive of Moonstone as art in motion and a testament to the beauty that emerges when vision, patience, and craft align.
