Moonstone Refit

Redesigning, refitting, and relaunching a superyacht is no small feat, especially when it involves a 7.5-metre hull extension. In 2022, the Owners entrusted Damen Yachting with the ambitious transformation of the 72m Delta Marine-built ALBATROSS. The vision? Create a centralised wellness hub with a sauna, Hammam, gym, massage suite, and pool, complemented by a sleek modern interior. Guided by the trusted partnership between the Owners, Damen Yachting, and designers Harrison Eidsgaard, this two-year project blended new-build expertise with meticulous refit execution. From re-engineering the yacht’s structure and upgrading technical systems, to redesigning 80% of the interiors with contemporary materials and bespoke craftsmanship, ALBATROSS emerged as a yacht ready to cruise the world in style for decades to come. MOONSTONE – reborn at Damen Yachting.

Moonstone – Our Floating Gallery was born during the process of photographing the yacht’s interior and exterior. As I moved through the spaces, lens in hand, it became clear that Moonstone was far more than a vessel. Her interior, art, sculptures, glasswork, coolers, textures, and marbles felt intentionally composed each element carefully considered, each space functioning as a standalone artwork while contributing to a greater whole. In that moment, the idea emerged: this was a floating gallery, and it deserved to be documented as such.

What followed was the proposal of a coffee table book one that would honour not only the yacht itself, but the vision, craftsmanship, and dedication behind her creation. This book is a celebration of that collective effort. From the owners, whose commitment to detail and aesthetic set the foundation, to Cheryl, whose thoughtful copy helped give the visuals their voice, every contribution played a vital role.

The journey from concept to completion was both demanding and deeply rewarding. Countless hours were spent colour checking, refining layouts, moving back and forth between revisions, and reshooting imagery to ensure the final result stayed true to Moonstone’s essence. The collaboration with Conolly Printing, and the care taken throughout the printing process, elevated the work even further—transforming images into a tactile experience worthy of the subject.

This book stands as a reflection of that shared dedication: a visual archive of Moonstone as art in motion, and a testament to the beauty that emerges when vision, patience, and craft align.
